Avendale continues cladding works in Berkshire

Our cladding remediation efforts this year see our management oversee £18 million in cladding remediation projects. Our latest project shows significant awareness of fire safety throughout the industry.

The UK government committed £5.1 billion to address unsafe cladding on residential buildings, prioritizing high rise buildings between 11 and 18 meters. The cladding safety scheme and building safety fund have been central to the remediation efforts. These programs provide a clear pathway for necessary safety improvements. Further to this, 55 developers signed remediation contracts to repair fire safety defects at an estimated cost of £3 billion. The responsible actors scheme monitors these repairs ensuring developers follow through with their commitments.

As cladding remediation efforts push forward across the country, part of an ongoing scheme in line with government guidelines to ensure building safety standards. We are seeing an increase in awareness of building safety standards across the industry.

Our latest project engages with a forward-thinking charity who approached us to upgrade their building with fire safety and energy performance in mind.

This ongoing latest project involves removing the old internal cladding, using insulation to fill the existing cavity, constructing new internal wall framework followed by boarding to complete a new floor to ceiling finish. Other requirements include upperlevel electric windows with upgraded U-value 1.1 W/m2k and complete new insulated commercial roof sheets throughout.

Jason Steele. Avendale Senior PM said “its great to see a positive step forward for the industry in building safety awareness, this has really been highlighted in the last 2 years with many clients approaching us with building safety concerns as a priority and communicating excellent knowledge of what the regulations are and how they want to achieve it.”

Driving carbon emission down

We implement a green construction policy on all cladding projects, endeavouring to look at the provenance and sustainability of materials as well as effective waste management/ recycling. Our goal is to align the new direction of residential fire safety with a forward thinking internal environmental policy that exceeds our ISO 14001 certification.
